The forms in my paintings are configured on a hexagonal grid. It is divided into a series of third and half spatial measures. Most of the time, the forms are designed for a rhythmic visual movement that will turn and lift inside a volume of pure color. The rectangle is proportioned around the form in a contingent equilibrium. My freedom to improvise within predetermined limits allows for endless invention. Visual clarity, speed and plastic tension gain from the sharp contrasts of pure color. The facture is developed after several layers of paint have been applied to the coarsely threaded ground. I associate the immaculate look with a certain numinous quality.
